Dunlop ready for 24 Hours of Dubai
The 7th running of the ‘Dunlop 24hrs of Dubai’ race takes place on 13/14 January. The event is now established as one of the most important endurance racing events in the world, attracting top teams from many different categories of international motorsport.
For the third year in succession, every competitor will race on Dunlop Tyres after the organisers chose Dunlop to supply the diverse grid of supercars and production touring cars that will contest the marathon event. Dunlop will be supplying over 6000 tyres for this race, supported by a fitting and service operation.
Gary Wassell, Car Motorsport Manager, is proud of the organiser’s choice of Dunlop to supply such a challenging event: “In 2011, Dunlop re-established itself at the pinnacle of endurance racing, with championship wins in the American Le Mans Series and a class victory in the Le Mans 24 hour race. This success, coupled with the comprehensive range of proven racing tyres needed to support such a diverse grid of cars, underlines our capability to support major prestigious events such as the Dubai 24h race.”
Dunlop’s heritage of performance is based on our success in endurance racing. In addition to being the most successful tyre manufacturer at the Le Mans 24h race, with 34 outright wins, Dunlop is also the Official Tyre of the Silverstone and Barcelona 24h races.
The starting line-up features supercars such as the Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911GT3, BMW Z4GT3, Audi R8, Nissan GT-R, Lotus Evora, Aston Martin Vantage and Corvette doing battle for outright victory. Dunlop’s racing tyres are designed and built at the company’s Motorsport Centre in Birmingham, UK.
In addition to being Official Technical Partner to prestigious car manufacturers such as BMW Motorsport, Dunlop are also producing over 200,000 high technology racing tyres each year for the World Moto2 and Moto3 Motorcycle Championships, International GT and Endurance racing and for national motorsport championships such as the British Touring Car Championship and Dutch Supercar Championship.
