International GT Open and European F3 Open select Dunlop.
The organisers of the International GT Open, European F3 Open and Spanish GT championship have chosen to extend their successful relationship with Dunlop as their Official Tyre Partner.
One of the world’s leading endurance racing championships, the International GT Open, attracts competitors from many nations racing exotic supercars and GT sportscars such as Ferrari F458, Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8 GT, Porsche 911 GT3 and Mercedes SLS AMG on Europe’s most famous circuits.
The 2012 schedule includes the Grand Prix circuits of Barcelona, Nurburgring,Hungaroring, Monza and Spa-Francorchamps in the GT Open’s tour of eight European Nations.
The series has run on Dunlop tyres since its inception, and the quality, durability and performance of the Dunlop tyres were key factors in the renewal of the contract.
“Dunlop’s success in global GT racing this year is evidence of their performance, technology and category leading development. In the prestigious International GT Open it is important that we offer the highest levels of product and service to our competitors, and Dunlop have proven their outstanding capability to do this” said Jesus Pareja, Managing Director of the organisers, GT Sport.
Dunlop will also supply tyres to the national Spanish GT Championship and the European Formula 3 Open.
The European F3 Open has grown considerably in recent seasons to become a true stepping stone for young drivers aspiring to move into GP2 and Grand Prix racing. With tightly controlled regulations, it puts the focus on driver ability. The partnership with Dunlop means that these drivers, at a critical stage of their career, can learn the importance of maximising tyre performance by working with an established and experienced premium tyre manufacturer.
The contract covers the next three seasons, and will extend Dunlop’s partnership with the event organisers to an unprecedented 16 years, making it one of the most successful continuous partnerships in international motorsport.
Gary Wassell, Manager, Car Motorsport EU, stated: “We are delighted to extend this contract and supply three of Europe’s top championships for the next three years. The organiser’s choice of Dunlop is fantastic news for our skilled workforce at our Fort Dunlop factory in Birmingham where these premium racing tyres will be designed, developed and manufactured.
