About Nürburgring 24 Hours

It’s one of the most famous and iconic motor racing destinations in the world, the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in the Eifel mountains and there is an epic race there every year with the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The Nordschliefe features over 70 corners in over 24km duration and takes drivers days rather than laps to learn it. The track features a diverse mixture of surface and corner types and it’s not for nothing that three-time Formula 1 world champion Jackie Stewart nick-named it the ‘Green Hell’.

The Nürburgring 24 Hours features open tyre competition, so Dunlop will battle its rival tyre manufacturers.

24 HOUR GT RACES

Racing through the night is not confined to exotic Le Mans Series specials. A loose-knit series of other major 24-hour races across the world – Dubai, Nürburgring, Silverstone, Barcelona with all but the Nürburgring 24 featuring exclusively Dunlop rubber.

The year-opening Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai is one of Dunlop’s biggest events of the year, with 6000 tyres taken to the event to supply a field comprising of a diverse mix of 70 different models of car.

If Dubai is about quantity of tyres, then the Nürburgring 24 Hours is about the quality of the competition in the open tyre event. Dunlop won in 2010 and is eager to return to the top step with one of its partner teams at the venue nicknamed the ‘green hell’.

Over 200 cars and 700 drivers contest the event on the 25 km Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Silverstone and Barcelona are both single tyre manufacturer events, meaning that Dunlop’s focus is on servicing a diverse array of teams whilst ensuring consistency and parity.

For Dunlop, the 24-hour adventures are both technically valuable in the lessons learned, and also enjoyable, for the traditional spirit of motor sport that they evoke.
