About

The Australian V8 Supercar Series is arguably the most popular car racing series in the world when looked at percentage popularity in its home country.

Featuring V8 powered saloon cars from Holden and Ford, the V8s are brutes of cars racing around Australia and beyond as the series takes in New Zealand and Abu Dhabi. Previously, China and Bahrain have been on the calendar. In the future, Austin, Texas beckons.

Dunlop was first named the official control tyre of the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series at the beginning of the 2002 season so in 2011 it is celebrating its 10th consecutive year supplying the country’s leading motorsport category.

The V8 Supercars continue to be one of Australia’s largest sports both in attendance and television audience. In 2010, around 1.7 million people walked through the gates at V8 Supercars events, including V8 Supercars’ 20 millionth spectator at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Dunlop provides two option tyres to the series; the standard compound SP Sport Maxx ‘Control’, and the softer option the SP Sport Maxx ‘Sprint’. Designed to create more exciting racing between competitors, the SP Sport Maxx ‘Sprint’ is used both exclusively and in conjunction with the SP Sport Maxx ‘Control’ at select races throughout the season.
